Understanding The Bigger Picture
The Pearl is one of the most prestigious structures in Edmonton’s downtown. Completed in 2015, this 36-storey cast-in-place concrete residential tower was constructed above four levels of underground parkade.
Protostatix addressed existing soil conditions of the site and the building’s close proximity to adjacent structures. Due to an aggressive timeline for this project, the structural drawings were prepared and tendered prior to the completion of the drawings of the other consultants. The chosen structural system was intentionally flexible, allowing for future architectural changes in the layout of the commercial and residential units without compromising the structural integrity of the project and budget.
